Care and Handling of fresh water cultured pearl jewelry. To clean pearls, wipe them gently with a damp cloth. Avoid exposing pearls to sudden temperature changes and contact with cosmetics, hair spray, perfurm or household chemicals, as they can diminish the beautiful luster of pearls. Ultrasonic cleaning is not safe for many gemstones, including pearls, so we advise against this method. Pearls should also be stored in a well ventilated area.
